Why a 'Men's Praise Movement'?
Our Mission Statement / History (so far..):
MPM is the outgrowth of small groups of men who have come together for the purpose of being committed disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. The means of the movement are found in Biblical teaching, as well as personal holiness and accountability.
The result of the changed lives the Lord has brought about through the smaller groups has made apparent both the greater need for men's discipleship as well as the obligation of Christian men to be so engaged.
The calling of MPM is to equip and connect with the disenfranchised or discouraged man (or formerly such) for the cause of Christ. While this is daunting task, the victory is already won through the finished work of our Lord (1 Cor. 15:57).
At MPM, we make no apology for being Christian nor do we offer an apology for being men!
Praise God! May He receive all of the glory due Him!

Ron K. - Write up short blog post on how MPM got its start...
ReplyDelete* What prompted you into action? What 'gap' did you see that needed to be filled?
* MPM's Purpose?
* Think about 'what's in in it for me?' and more importantly 'How will God be glorified through my
participation?'
As we all get familiar with the act and art of blogging, we'll mature this process... The BEST blogs create content
(or serve as a pointer to other great content) that is both insightful and relevant (in today's terms). Wordiness
is NOT the real measure of success. Instead, conciseness and 'get to the point' is the 'real' measure of a good
blog... Also, consider asking your blog audience to participate in the 'conversation'. You'll eventually see others
following the blog (another good sign that your blog is hitting a 'sweet spot'...
Think of this blog as an ongoing chat over coffee (instead it's being done over hundreds/thousands of miles apart!)
I'll be here to guide you and others along the way... Blessings, Sebastian
I am looking for better definition of what a disenfranchised or discouoraged man is. Are you leaving it broad intentionally or are you assuming the reader knows?
ReplyDeleteTaph, what is the operating definition of a disenfranchised or discouraged man? Are you leaving the definition broad intentionally -- are you assuming your audience will know the answer? What about the seeker who stumbles upon this site?
ReplyDeleteI think you are on to something here -- good luck.
Keith
Keith,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments!
You're right, we should a better job defining 'disenfranchised / discouraged'... Basically, it's the guy sitting at the back of the church. Not really engaged, just kind of 'faking it' every Sunday. A guy who knows he should be doing otherwise, but because of past/recent struggles feels that he can't serve, his church, his family, his friends...
In short, MPM reaches out and speaks to the vast majority of us! I should know, I'm one of them! =)
BTW, MPM is the brainchild of Ron Kronz. I've been part of his Men's Accountability Group for over a year. My MPM role is to serve as its Lead Techie. Blessings! S.

ReplyDeleteWhat do you guys think are main reasons that men give for not following the LORD in a committed way?
ReplyDeleteThe terms "disenfranchised" and "discouraged" are left broad to cast a wide net. The take-home message is that the angst of the believer, whether real or imagined, is not valid as an excuse for not following the Lord. Neh. 6:3. PS: sorry for the slow resonse to the question; I am REALLY new to this blog thing.
ReplyDeleteHey "BD" - love you, miss you. Follow the blog. Hopefully, teaching, video, etc to follow. We are just getting started. Love your comments. RK
ReplyDeletePraise the LORD for all who attended the first service last night.By all accounts so far,it was a powerfully uplifting. It was to me.The purpose of MPM,however,is not so much to be an event, but a movement of praise. The Word calls us to be sober an vigillant.(1 Pet 5:8).this infers accuracy as well as consistency.Conder yourselves, therefore, invited to the next service on Feb 21 (Sat),same place and time. Now the challenge:who else needs to be involved with such an outreach, but was not there because we did not invite him?Ask the LORD to give you eyes to see this man,as well as courage to invite him.Love your input.Walk with the King today, and be a blessing.Ron K
ReplyDeleteHey Ron,
ReplyDeleteI think the reason that men do not follow the Lord in a committed way is that they look mostly to their own strength and that they decide beforehand that the Christian walk is either too hard or uninteresting.
That and committed Christians don't call them to it.-(guilty here..)
Thanks for the question..

It,s sort of like we either pridefully think we can walk in our own strength or imagine that our circumstances are too hopeless. Both positions are lies. All things are possible with God.Nothing of value is possible without Him.Good comment,Anthony.Matt 19:26
